In World war II, at the age of 19, I was a combat infantryman in the European Theater. After the war, I took advantage of the Veteran's Administration counseling service and after testing, they recommended that I should be in tangible sales. I therefore applied for my real estate license and I am now enjoying my 58th year in the wonderful world of real estate. I began my career as a real estate salesman in 1949 in Wayne, built my first home in 1952 on Spring Mill Road, Villanova and sold it for $37,500. I received my real estate broker's license in 1953 and opened the Robert Bruce Real estate office at the Spread Eagle Inn in Wayne with one sales associate. My business flourished and was enhanced by my ground development and home building and it became the largest residential real estate company in Eastern Pennsylvania with 16 offices with 483 sales associates. In 1985, I sold my real estate company to Merrill Lynch and became Vice President of Merrill Lynch Realty until 1990, during which period I continued to develop ground and build homes. Since 1990, all of my efforts, together with my son, have been devoted to residential home building and ground development. We have now built over 1000 homes including condominiums, townhouses, affordable single family dwellings and luxury homes. Our work is enjoyable and we have a great romance with homebuilding and real estate. We look forward to going to work everyday and hope that we can build your new home.
