Emerald Homes is an experienced skilled building company that focuses on value and quality to meet the needs of today's family.

Starting in 1984, Emerald Homes has built nearly 3,000 houses in the Central Virginia area. A lot has been learned about building and doing things the right way by completing this many homes. We employ 20 people who all together have over 210 years of building experience. Our houses reflect the value and quality that can come ONLY with this kind of experience.

R.T. Avery III and Ben H. Turner Jr. started Emerald Homes 25 years ago. Mr. Turner has since retired but Mr. Avery is still active in the business. Mr. Avery states "We believe anything worth doing is worth doing the right way. That is what my father taught me and that is what I taught my son." Mr. Avery's son is Ray Avery IV, who started working with Emerald during summers while still in school. Today, he has an infinite appreciation for the work that goes into one of Emerald's houses because he had to learn the business from the "ground up". "Ground Up" in the building business means digging ditches, sweeping contruction debris, pouring concrete or anything necessary to get a home ready for a family.

Over 75 skilled tradesmen contribute to the finished house built by Emerald. These tradesmen are the key to the home being built as solid and strong as possible. These tradesmen are the backbone of the building business and each home is only as good as their skills. You can trust that after building as many houses as Emerald has we KNOW what to look for in a skilled tradesman. We use only the best of the best. Our tradesmen share our values and know their craft extremely well. You can bet our homes will be built with only the best material and techniques and workmanship available today.
