Founded along the path of a centuries old Indian trail between the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers, Creve Coeur, which means "broken heart" in French, gets its name from an old Indian legend. According to the story, an Indian princess fell in love with a French fur trapper, but the love was not returned. When she leapt from a ledge overlooking what is now known as Creve Coeur Lake, the lake formed into a broken heart. Take a R on Mason Rd. & the entrance to Enclave Bellerive will be on your R. FROM THE WEST: I-64/US-40 E to the MO-141 Exit 22 (Woods Mill Rd.). Turn L onto MO-141 N/Woods Mill Rd. approx. 1.3 miles. R onto Ladue Rd. heading E for 1.2 miles. When you get to the intersection of Mason Rd. & Ladue Rd. turn L onto Mason Rd. & the entrance to Enclave Bellerive will be on your R.
